The Superstition Freeway was the first non-Interstate freeway constructed in Arizona, and the only urban freeway undergoing construction in the 1970s.

AZ 360 became US 60 in a realignment of US 60 from its old "through town" alignment on Apache Trail (Tempe) and Main St. (Mesa).
